Strutt & Parker has appointed David Couch as head of valuation.

Couch, who has worked in the property industry for more than 30 years, joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in 1994 and gained extensive experience in development land agency and consultancy before specialising in valuation over the past decade.

His appointment follows a decision to bring the residential valuation teams, previously part of BNP Paribas Real Estate, into Strutt & Parker from 1 October, where its work and client base complement the firm’s established rural, land and residential businesses.

Kate Moisson, head of rural at Strutt & Parker, said: “Bringing residential valuation into Strutt & Parker creates a natural fit with our existing rural and residential businesses, allowing us to draw on a broader range of expertise and a deeper understanding of property, land and development more generally.

“David brings extensive experience and strong relationships across the sector and will play a key role in developing this proposition and ensuring we continue to deliver the high quality, informed advice our clients expect. Combined with our national reach and the breadth of knowledge across the business, this puts us in a strong position to support clients with complex valuation requirements.”

Couch added: “In an increasingly data-rich market, robust valuation advice depends on the interpretation of that evidence. Understanding local markets, assessing the reliability of the data and applying professional judgement are all essential to arriving at a well-founded view of value. Our work spans a diverse range of property and land and being part of Strutt & Parker gives us the opportunity to draw on complementary knowledge across the business in advising our clients.”
