Barings has appointed Jorge Zawerthal Duarte as head of portfolio management, European real estate equity.
Duarte, who previously spent nearly seven years at Barings, rejoins the business from Hines where, as senior managing director, he led the firm’s core plus platform and the Hines European Property Partners (HEPP) fund.
In his new role, he will lead Barings’ European real estate equity portfolio management group, overseeing strategy development and the execution of investment solutions across commingled funds, joint ventures and separate accounts. He will also serve on the firm’s European real estate equity investment and valuation committees.
Nick Pink, head of European real estate equity at Barings, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jorge back to Barings. His leadership experience, proven investment track record, and deep understanding of the European real estate landscape make him uniquely equipped to guide our portfolio management platform through the next phase of growth. Jorge’s appointment reflects our long‑term commitment to delivering strong performance and innovative solutions for our clients across Europe.”
Duarte added, “I’m excited to return to Barings at such a pivotal moment for the European real estate market. With its integrated platform, deep local expertise and strong client partnerships, Barings is exceptionally well placed to capture the opportunities ahead and deliver long term value for investors.”
