That is the big question BE News will be posing during a highly topical – and important – free to attend debate on Labour’s new planning policies at a Labour Party Conference fringe event hosted by City & Country.
Labour has placed planning reforms at the heart of its mission to drive economic growth and get Britain building. However, many have tried to reform the planning system before – and failed – and the planning system has now reached crisis point.
The fringe event, which is taking place from 12:50 to 13:50 on Tuesday 24 September at Premier Meetings Liverpool Albert Dock, will shine the spotlight on Labour’s new housing plans and explore what needs to be done to unlock the planning system and deliver the 1.5 million new homes Labour has promised.
Joining BE News editor-in-chief Liz Hamson will be expert panellists: Simon Vernon-Harcourt, design and planning director at City & Country; Kate Faulkner, chair of the Home Buying and Selling Council; and Josh Dean MP, Member of Parliament for Hertford and Stortford.
They will be sharing their thoughts on new Labour policies such as the introduction of 300 new planning officers, development of grey belt land and proposed revisions to the NPPF during what promises to be a lively debate.
