The iconic The Royal Exchange luxury retail and F&B scheme in the heart of the City of London has been put up for sale.

The Grade I listed building, which provides 50,852 sq ft of retail and dining space across lower ground, ground and mezzanine levels, around a historic covered courtyard, was bought by The Ardent Companies from Oxford Properties in October 2022

The property, which dates back to 1571, has been home to both the Lloyds insurance market and the London International Financial Futures Exchange, with the current building – the third on the site – opened by Queen Victoria in 1844.

The property is held on a long leasehold interest from the Mercers’ Company and the Mayor and Commonality and Citizens of the City of London from 21 February 2001, expiring 24 December 2115.

The Royal Exchange is currently 99% let to occupiers including Hermès, Tiffany & Co, Boodles, Montblanc, Omega, Fortnum’s Bar & Restaurant and Ladurée. The retail units generate a total passing rent of £2,589,918 per annum and the F&B units generate a total passing rent of £2,265,965 per annum.

Savills and Knight Frank have been appointed to market the opportunity.
