Henley Developments and Erith Contractors have secured planning approval for the first phase of the new district centre at Alkerden Village in Ebbsfleet.
Ebbsfleet Development Corporation’s planning committee granted approval for the delivery of a Morrisons supermarket, a gym, nursery, neighbourhood green and 83 affordable homes, offering a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership.
The mixed-use Alkerden Village scheme will feature approximately 1,700 homes and form part of the wider transformation of the circa 600-acre former quarry within Ebbsfleet Garden City.
Warwick Hunter, managing director of development and head of ESG at Henley Developments, which is part of Henley Investment Management, said, “It is fantastic to have secured approval for the first phase of the district centre at Alkerden Village. The new Morrisons supermarket will provide all residents with a convenient local shop, and alongside the gym, nursery and neighbourhood green will become the heart of the scheme and deliver a sense of place for the local community. The 83-affordable homes will provide a range of homes for the community and help local people onto the housing ladder. We look forward to commencing construction on site shortly.”

Construction of the district centre is expected to get underway in the second half of this year, with completion expected in mid-2025.
