Savills has appointed Tom Opperman as an associate in its Savills Earth division.
Opperman, who has 10 years of industry experience, joins the firm from Verafind, where he was head of accounts and led a team of five land managers delivering off-market development opportunities nationwide.
In his new role, he will initially focus on the private wire solar farm sector, helping to connect large scale energy offtakers with neighbouring landowners. He will also work across major wind, solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) development projects.
Thomas McMillan, director, Savills Earth, said: “We are delighted Tom is joining us. With expertise in site search and evaluation, stakeholder negotiation, and structuring leases and option agreements, Tom combines strong commercial acumen with a practical understanding of planning constraints and relationship management, ensuring development pipelines are robust, deliverable and financially viable.”
Opperman added: “The energy and renewables sector is entering a particularly dynamic period as the UK accelerates its transition towards net zero. I am pleased to be joining the market leading Savills Earth team at such a pivotal time, and I look forward to supporting our clients in delivering high quality projects that create long term value and positive impact.”
