The freehold of a Grade II listed former courthouse and police station in Milton Keynes has been put up for sale.

The Old Court House at 19 Market Square, occupies a prominent position in the historic Buckinghamshire town of Stony Stratford.

The 2,548, sq ft, two-storey red-brick building dates from the 1860’s and was originally constructed as a police station and courthouse for petty sessions, housing a courtroom, magistrates’ chambers and holding cells. It now comprises a mix of open-plan and cellular offices.

Nick Bosworth, senior surveyor at BTG Eddisons in Milton Keynes, which has been appointed to market the opportunity, said: “The Old Court House is a distinctive property in a prominent position at the heart of Stony Stratford, combining an interesting history with an established town centre location.

“Buildings of this character rarely come to the market, and the property could appeal to buyers looking for an individual office building or an opportunity to explore its potential for an alternative use, subject to the necessary planning and listed building consents. With its historic setting, local amenities and good transport links, it represents an opportunity to acquire a character property in one of Milton Keynes’ best-known historic towns.”
