Travelodge has agreed a deal with Higgins Group to deliver a new hotel at Loughton in Essex.
The contractor-developer is progressing the redevelopment of its current headquarters on Langston Road to create the 100-bedroom hotel.
Dominic Higgins, chief operating officer of Higgins Group, said: “We are thrilled to have reached an agreement with Travelodge and to have commenced construction of the project. This will cement the next stage of Higgins Group’s commitment to Loughton whilst delivering benefits to both our company and the wider area.”
Tony O’Brien, UK development director at Travelodge, added: “The Langston Road site fits our development criteria given its excellent location with good transport links within a growing area. Strettons’ expert market knowledge was vital in securing the site and in realising the potential of our development plans. We are pleased to have exchanged and to be involved in a scheme that is looking to the future environmentally and will bring economic benefits to Loughton, both during the construction phase and in the future.”
Chris Collins, director at Strettons, which advised Travelodge on the deal, said: “This promises to be a significant project for Loughton and I am delighted that we were able to advise on the deal for our client, Travelodge. This is the latest in a series of acquisitions we have completed on behalf of Travelodge and we are continuing to identify further possible sites across London and the South East.”
