Hospitality group Barons Eden has acquired the four-star Orsett Hall hotel, restaurant and spa in Essex for an undisclosed price.
The Georgian-style country house hotel, which is set within 12 acres of landscaped grounds in Orsett, Grays, comprises 57 en-suite bedrooms, including four bridal suites, along with extensive event spaces, a chapel, five lodges and comprehensive wellness facilities.
The freehold property was sold by the Barton-Wright family as a transfer of a going concern free from management agreements and branding restrictions.

Orsett Hall is a particularly well-situated beautiful countryside hotel in Essex, and we are excited to have the opportunity to significantly invest in the property to create a destination spa resort so close to London.”
Henry Jackson, partner and head of hotel agency at Knight Frank, which acted as the sole selling agent on the transaction, added: “Orsett Hall presented an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-established country house hotel in a prime Home Counties location. The property’s combination of high quality accommodation, extensive events facilities, and strong operational performance attracted significant interest, and we are delighted to have successfully completed the sale to Barons Eden.”
