AEW has completed the development of Mach2 in Hamburg, which it claims is the first multi-storey logistics development in Germany and the wider DACH region.
The company intends to use the development as the blueprint for future logistics projects to address the shortage of available development land in and around densely populated cities.
Mach2 comprises around 124,330 sq m (circa 1.3m sq ft) of Grade A space across two buildings spanning three floors, including office and mezzanine areas.
The building, which was developed speculatively by AEW’s €4.4bn pan-European logistics fund, LOGISTIS, in collaboration with contractor GSE and project developer Four Parx, was fully pre-let ahead of completion, with occupiers including aircraft manufacturer Airbus, furnishing company JYSK, IT business Bechtle, and online food retailer Picnic.
Mach2, which was designed by Duisburg-based architects Ropertz & Partners Planungsgesellschaft, is expected to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and boasts a smart metering system and external energy monitoring, as well as solar PV panels and EV charging points.
