Bargate has submitted a planning application to deliver up to 180 homes on a 32.4-acre site on the outskirts of Winchester.
Currently underutilised as arable land, the site is located off Salters Lane, bounded by Stockbridge Road to the north and Dean Lane to the south.
Approximately 50% of the site will be designated as open space and up to 40% of the homes will be allocated for affordable housing, to be delivered through Bargate’s parent company VIVID.

The city’s affordable housing shortfall has been rising in recent years and there is an increasing number of people on the housing register who have expressed a preference for accommodation in the locality. Our proposals can deliver up to 180 much-needed homes to help meet the demand for energy-efficient housing in this prized location.
“Delivering this scheme would significantly add to the housing mix in the immediate area, while also providing high-quality green infrastructure across the site, including landscaping and public open space. Bird, bat and insect boxes, provision for extensive rewilding, habitat creation and exemplary biodiversity net gains are included within our outline planning application.
