Peterhouse College has let the 37,000 sq ft Q-Arc building in Bar Hill, Cambridge, to rapidly scaling biotechnology company 4basebio.
The building will be retrofitted from office accommodation into a CL2 laboratory and R&D facility, creating a significant new research base to support the company’s continued growth.
Sophie Dickens, director at Tydus, which advised the college on the letting, said: “This transaction highlights the continued growth of the Cambridge life sciences sector, with scaling companies requiring larger and more sophisticated facilities to support their research programmes. Q-Arc provides the scale and flexibility needed to deliver a high-quality laboratory environment for 4basebio’s next phase of development.”
George Craig, partner, business space agency at Bidwells, which advised the college on the refurbishment of the building, added: “This transaction underlines the continued demand from scaling biotech companies for larger buildings that can be retrofitted into high-quality laboratory space. We were pleased to advise Peterhouse College on the refurbishment of Q-Arc to accommodate 4basebio and support their next phase of growth.”
