The administrators have put an 18th century townhouse in Tiverton, Devon, up for sale with a guide price of £500,000.

Gotham House, which was most recently used as the headquarters of Devonshire Homes, is being offered for sale freehold by joint agents Watling Real Estate and Vickery Holman, acting on behalf of the joint administrators of Devonshire Homes.

The property was built in around 1739 for George Davey, a prominent local woollen cloth merchant who also served as mayor of Tiverton.

Chris Davies, director in Watling Real Estate’s Bristol office, said: “Situated in the centre of Tiverton, Gotham House offers owner-occupiers, investors and developers an opportunity to acquire a prominent freehold building with a distinctive history. The property is suitable for continued commercial occupation and may also offer potential for conversion back to residential use, subject to the necessary consents. We therefore expect it to attract interest from a broad range of prospective purchasers.”
