A prime riverfront site at Brett Wharf on Gateshead Quays with planning consent for a 269-unit build-to-rent (BTR) scheme has been put up for sale.

The 1.28-acre site is located on the banks of the River Tyne and boasts around 192m of direct river frontage and uninterrupted views across Newcastle’s iconic bridges and skyline.

Fully cleared, remediated and with a renewed quay wall, the site is development-ready and has full planning consent for two buildings of up to 10 storeys.

The scheme will provide a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments with the on-site amenity space comprising a gym, residents’ lounges, rooftop facilities and ground floor space, which could be used for offices or by F&B occupiers.

Kieran McLaughlin, senior director, UK development and residential, at CBRE, which alongside ATRE has been appointed to market the opportunity, said: “Brett Wharf represents one of the most significant residential-led development opportunities currently available in the North East. Its unrivalled riverfront position, combined with fully implemented planning consent and strong BTR fundamentals, creates a compelling proposition for parties seeking a rare opportunity in a supply-constrained market where there is limited competing stock.”
