Chartway Partnerships Group (Chartway) in partnership with its new affordable housing partner Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) have secured planning consent for 35 affordable homes in Tye Green, Braintree.
The site, which was acquired by CHP in May 2024, will be delivered as a 100% affordable housing scheme and will provide a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom family homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.
Julian Moat, planning director at Chartway, said: “Working with our internal and external consultant teams, together with CHP, we are delighted to have finally obtained the key project milestone of reserved matters planning approval from Braintree District Council. This follows a significantly protracted 14-month planning process; demonstrating the challenges still being faced across the sector in securing planning permissions despite the overwhelming need to deliver much-needed new affordable housing.
“This planning approval means the project can now move towards the delivery of this fully affordable, high quality, and sustainably designed scheme. I look forward to seeing this carefully designed planning-led scheme built out over the coming months and turning our shared vision into a reality, through the creation of a new development that everyone can be proud of.”
