Birmingham City Council resolved to grant full planning permission for St Modwen Homes’ proposal to build an additional 205 new homes on the historic MG Rover site at Longbridge.
The developer intends to build three apartment blocks on land situated just off Dalmuir Road offering 100 one-bedroom apartments and 105 two-bedroom apartments.
The scheme will also deliver much needed affordable housing through a mixture of affordable/social rent as well as through the government’s First Homes scheme for first-time buyers.
Dave Smith, managing director at St Modwen Homes, said: “Longbridge is fast becoming a thriving community hub from which people can live, work and play. We are delighted to receive planning on what is another phase of many. These new apartments represent a positive next step in the regeneration of the area and will provide sought-after homes, conveniently located next to public transport links and amenities.”
St Modwen Homes intends to create 3,000 new homes, 2m sq ft of commercial space and up to 10,000 jobs as part of ambitious plans to regenerate the Longbridge site.
