Housebuilder Thakeham has received a resolution to grant planning consent for a net zero carbon housing development in Ringmer, East Sussex, from Lewes District Council.
The Lewes Road development comprises 95 new one- to four-bedroom homes, 38 of which are affordable across varying tenures.
Each home will have its own dedicated EV charging point and secure cycle storage, with air source heat pumps and PV solar panels provided as standard to achieve net zero carbon.
The development will also feature new play spaces for children, improved cycling and pedestrian links and enhanced connections to the existing public right of way to promote greater use of the wider footpath network.
Tristan Robinson, director of external affairs at Thakeham, said: “There were over 500 families seeking affordable homes on the housing waiting list during 2022-23 across the Lewes district, which illustrates the clear need for additional housing across the local area. Our Lewes Road development will help to address that need in a sustainable manner. We are taking a leading role nationally in delivering net zero carbon homes, with Lewes Road being our latest scheme to have sustainability at its heart.”
