Vistry Group has been given the go-ahead for the delivery of 1,300 new homes at a site in Tangmere, Chichester.

Known as the ‘Tangmere Strategic Development Location Site’, Chichester District Council has issued a planning decision notice to bring forward the development of 1,300 new homes in addition to a new primary school and community and commercial facilities at the site.

The scheme initially received a resolution to grant planning permission in March 2021. However, due to the complexities of the compulsory purchase order process and subsequent amendments to the site’s planning application boundary, the outline application was revisited.

The Issuing of the formal decision notice marks a significant milestone, enabling the project to advance to its next stage of delivery.

Vistry Group was selected by Chichester District Council to lead the development project, which has been developed in close collaboration with Tangmere Parish Council and local residents over several years.

Martin Leach, managing director of Vistry Strategic Land, said: “Receiving formal outline planning permission is a significant step in realising the vision for Tangmere. We remain committed to working closely with Tangmere Parish Council and local residents to produce a design code that will guide the next phase of this transformative development.”
