Housebuilder Keepmoat has secured planning consent to build 194 new homes on a former ironworks site in Openshaw.
The proposals for the brownfield site, which is located off Crabtree Lane, involve the demolition and remediation of a range of derelict buildings to deliver 124 apartments and 70 family homes.
Of the 194 homes, 62 will be delivered in partnership with a housing provider to create a range of affordable options.

“This site has been derelict for a number of years and gave rise to antisocial behaviour, vandalism and illegal fly tipping. Our plans for the site will help see this part of the city regenerate its redundant industrial use for much needed new homes and make the most of its canalside location. We look forward to working closely with our partners to progress our plans for a scheme that reflects the character, heritage and long-term ambitions of the area.”
