Vistry Group has secured reserved matters planning consent for 370 new homes in Kidlington near Oxford.
Under the approved plans, 185 of the homes will be affordable with Vistry working in partnership with Paradigm Housing Group, which will own and manage the affordable homes once they have been built.
Vistry has also forward-sold 56 of the new homes to Leaf Living, which provides professionally managed new-build rental homes, with the remaining homes to be sold on the open market by one of Vistry’s housebuilding brands.
Supriya Ray, regional managing director of Vistry Cotswolds, said: “Kidlington is a perfect example of Vistry’s unique partner delivery model – working with Paradigm and Leaf Living means we’re able to provide 241 homes in affordable tenures alongside a significant number of quality homes for the build-to-rent market, whilst utilising the strengths of our housebuilding brands to sell the remaining homes on the open market. This approach provides the greatest range of housing choices, giving local people genuine opportunities to own or rent a quality new home in a popular Oxfordshire town.”
Martyn Jones, Paradigm Housing’s executive director for development and sales, added: “This is another example of the collaboration that we’re developing with Vistry at large scale. Paradigm has had early and effective involvement in the planning process, meaning this was more than a simple acquisition and much more of a partnership with Vistry, enabling us to influence design and place-making. This project has also allowed us to work closely with Cherwell District Council to convert the original First Homes to shared ownership homes, making them affordable to a broader range of families.”
Will Montague, CEO of Leaf Living, said: “This latest deal in our longstanding partnership with Vistry is further testament to our commitment to delivering much-needed and high quality rental homes at scale in England. A varied choice of tenure is crucial for helping to alleviate the housing shortage, with single-family homes to rent in the right locations providing a sustainable, long-term solution for tenants.”
